to-do lists versus intentions

many of us start the day with a to do list. if that works for you – great. if that often leaves you a little lackluster, or if you’re looking for something else, try this: a list of intentions. then see how that compares to a to-do list.

today’s intentions

  • i want to feel good. i want to nod and say to myself, yup, how i feel right now, that feels just right.
  • i want to be able to say to myself with a grin on my face: done that! that always comes after i’ve accomplished something.
  • i want to make a meaningful connection with someone i care about. as we’re being together, to do/be what it takes to have that feeling of satisfaction and depth.
  • i want to be open and aware as much as possible. heart, eyes, mind, hands, arms – open and aware.
  • i want to feel light in body, mind and spirit.
  • should fear and discomfort join me, i want to look them in the eye.
  • i want to contribute something good to someone’s life.
  • now let’s compare this to this:

    today’s to do list

  • phone mabel.
  • do the vacuuming.
  • finish the article for jenna.
  • make an appointment with arthur, dr. blanch and josephine.
  • send out last month’s invoices.
  • remind sarah of her deadline.
  • make a preliminary plan for QT’s project.
