today you are you, that is truer than true. there is no one alive who is youer than you.
that’s a quote from dr. seuss’s book, happy birthday to you. (as some of you know, i’m a big dr. seuss fan.)
but why only say that on a birthday? and – oh, here is an idea: isn’t every day a birth-day? isn’t every day a day where we are birthed anew, another chance to really live life?
so, my dear reader –
today you are you. there’s no one alive who is youer than you.
just take a moment to think about it.
who is this “you” person? what makes you so “you”?
aaah, there are so many things.
your body. your body from the inside: no one has exactly the same body chemistry as you. from the outside: no-one’s face, hands, feet, ears, hair … no-one looks exactly like you. no one SOUNDS exactly like you (because no-one has exactly the same vocal chords, tongue, lips like you …)
your mind. No one puts their sentences together exactly like you. no one has exactly the same reaction to these words, as you read them right now, this minute. no one likes math like you, or dislikes yogurt like you, or laughs at jokes exactly the same as you.
your heart, soul and spirit. no one has exactly the same questions about the universe. no one feels love exactly the same as you. no one prays like you, or has the same passionate thoughts about atheism as you do.
isn’t this mind-boggling? each one of us is a special, irreplaceable, irreplicable universe of stunning complexity and mystery.
no one is youer than you.
cause for celebration, every day!
